Normal skin is skin that has a perfect balance of oil and water. In my experience, I have seen very few clients with normal skin; especially practicing in NYC. Living in a metropolitan area, the skin suffers from an onslaught of free radical damage. This happens as a result of environmental pollution. When you live in a city, this is inevitable. The solution is using products that are tailored to your skin type and condition, this is so vitally important in maintaining good skin health.
A normal skin type is characterized by a majority of small, invisible pores. This skin is usually slightly over producing oil in warm weather and becomes more normal and dehydrated in cold weather. The regimen is different depending on the season and the amount of oil you are producing.
Spring/ Summer regimen: If there is an overproduction of oil, the cucumber cleanser or the water based deep pore cleansing lotion will be good. A good toner for the summer would be the calming toner for a younger skin, and the revitalizing toner for a more mature skin. The revitalizing toner is an excellent product used for anti-aging purposes.. The oil blotting hydrating lotion and the oil free moisture shield with a UV 9 A/B sun protection are a good for the summer. The vitamin C serum should be a part of your daily regimen in the winter and summer. It has excellent anti-aging and free radical protective factors in it. I call it my skin preservative. The oatmeal buffing cream should be used 2 to 3 times a week. Eye cream is always essential in slowing down the aging process, the sooner you start using it the better.
Fall/ Winter regimen: The only thing that changes in the regimen are the cleansers and moisturizers. Depending on how much oil production slows down, you could use either the honey and milk cleanser or the water based creamy but less emollient deep pore cleansing lotion. The moisturizer should be changed to the 24/7 . The serum should definitely be used under moisturizer.
Cleansing procedure:
Step 1: Cleanse by wetting face and putting cleanser the size of a dime on your fingers and cleanse entire face. Rinse and repeat.
Step2: On the days when you are exfoliating, take a small amount of oatmeal buffing cream and massage in circular motions all over your entire face. Rinse and move to next step.
Step 3: Take a round dry facial pad and pour a small amount of toner on it and go over entire face with toner.
Step 4: Apply a drop of serum to your forehead, one drop on each cheek and one drop on your chin. You only ned a drop because it is very concentrated.
Step 5: Apply a very small amount of eye cream around eye area.
Step 6: Apply Moisturizer all over face. If you are a more mature skin, apply products to neck, as a preventative you can apply to neck at any age.
